Sofya Olenicheva
Chief of Staff
Sofya’s professional policy experience began with an assignment to research transportation issues for the Virginia gubernatorial transition team. Since the team was formed prior to the outcome of the election, this gave her the opportunity to understand the nuances of the policy issue and make recommendations in a nonpartisan context. She later worked as a Program Assistant at the Community Climate Collaborative, a nonprofit committed to facilitating environmental policy development in local government and encouraging residents to integrate sustainable solutions into their lifestyle. Prior to joining ZETA as a Policy Advisor in 2020, Sofya interned with the State of Rhode Island’s Office of Management and Budget reform as a policy analyst. Sofya holds a Bachelor of Arts with Highest Distinction from the University of Virginia, where she double-majored in Public Policy and Global Environments & Sustainability.
