WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) and Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) sent a joint letter to President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The letter praises both governments’ commitments to transportation electrification and stresses the importance of collaborating on this critical issue ahead of the Leaders Summit on Climate hosted by the White House taking place later this week.
“The United States and Canada are well-positioned to set an example by electrifying their transportation sectors,” said ZETA Executive Director Joe Britton. “North America holds the key to a robust and environmentally-conscious electric vehicle supply chain, and we have a tradition of strong domestic auto manufacturing to build upon. The political will has never been stronger.”
“From an environmental, health and economic point of view, electric mobility offers amazing opportunities for the United States and Canada. The timing is perfect for both countries to collaborate on such an inspiring and quickly growing sector of our interconnected economies.” said Daniel Breton, President & CEO of Electric Mobility Canada
Delivered ahead of Earth Day, the letter recognizes both countries’ responsibility to curb emissions from their transportation sectors, which are responsible for 17% of global greenhouse emissions. Both ZETA and EMC reaffirmed their dedication to addressing this concern and expressed their willingness to coordinate with federal governments in order to craft a robust response.
