ZETA Statement On Passage of Senate Reconciliation Package

July 2, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Zero Emission Transportation Association’s Executive Director, Albert Gore, issued the following statement in response to today’s passage of the Senate reconciliation package:

“Today, the Senate took a sledgehammer to the domestic EV and battery supply chain that will be felt in communities around the country, particularly in the battery belt, the southwest, and the industrial midwest. There should be no doubt of the starkly negative impacts this bill will have on the future of American manufacturing. It will cost American jobs and close domestic factories, while increasing costs for consumers. In the process, it abandons the goal of making the United States globally competitive in future mineral, battery, and vehicle production markets while ceding that future to our competitors.

“As this package arrives in the House, we will continue to advocate for policies that will promote American automotive dominance and encourage Members of the House to address the key failings in this bill. The companies and workers that have built this supply chain will not waiver in their commitment to innovation and ingenuity, and neither will we.”
